Planner Accessories

Do you like to personalize your planner? Do you like to have decorative office supplies? Do you never have the money to continually by those office supplies?

Here is a little trick to having those office supplies on a budget. You can dress up any ordinary office supply. I going to demonstrate one way to dress up a binder clip then list other ways you could decorate the binder clips and briefly give examples of other office supply make overs.

Step 1: Gather your supplies
  • Binder Clip
  • Piece of scrap paper
    •  ( I used a sticky note in the demonstration but any type of paper will work just stray away from papers that are thicker because they will be harder to  crease and hold to the binder clip)
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Decorative Supplies (Markers, Sharpies, Stickers, Flowers, etc . . )

Step 2: Wrap the paper around the binder clip. I use the edge of the paper up against onside of the binder clip to reduce the amount of times I need to cut. Some papers also crease better than others and which makes it easier to see where you need to cut.

Step 3: Once you cut the paper to fit the binder clip start taping the edge of the paper to the binder clip to adhere it to the clip.

Step 4: Decorate the clip with whatever design, saying, or decorative item you would like. I cut my paper crease it so I know what the tops and sides are and decorate it before adhering it to the paper clip. (Either way is fine I just draw/write better on the flat service of a table than when the paper is already on the clip)

Now you have a Decorative Binder Clip!

You can also use washing tape as I have done below which cuts out decorating the binder clip and needing tape to adhere it to the binder clip. You can also use paint pens to decorate the clip or just using items that you can adhere to the clip such as small flowers.

Washing tape is much of the same as above.

Step 1: But a strip on the clip and cut the edges flush with the clip! (I don't line the edges up because it is much easier since this is self adhesive to cut both edges.)

Step 2: Just continue layering the strips until the whole clip is covered with washing tape.

*Depending on the strength of the washing tape you make want to put a small piece of tape to secure the edges will stay adhered to the clip

You can also decorate paper clips. To decorate paper clips you can use ribbon by tying a not on the paper clip and leaving extra on the two ends so it sticks up like a book mark or you can tie a bow with the ribbon. You can also hot glue something on the end of the paper clip to give it a more decorative feel. You can also take spray paint and paint regular paper clips (most people have spray paint sitting around there house or if you have to buy a can it is still cheaper than paying $4 for a handful of colored paper clips)
