Overhauling Christmas Cards

How many of you been stuck buying cheap Christmas cards just because it was not in the budget to buy elaborate ones or even photo made cards? I know I have been stuck in that situation a time or two! Trust there is nothing wrong with it! Through dressing up your Christmas cards you can add personal touches that will be enjoyed by all of your recipients. Below I have listed ideas on how to dress up your Christmas cards to make splash this Christmas.

1. Simple seals

I know you are sitting there thinking simple seals how are seals simple? Yes you can pull out the wax, the candle, and the medal seal to make beautiful vintage seals on the back of you cards. However, this is very time consuming you have to worry about the seal melting if it gets to hot or falling off in the mail. If you choose to use this type of seal I would advise you to keep your addresses local and chose first class mailing. If you would like something a little more simple, time efficient, and less expensive you can choose to do stickers if you find one that you like or you can even use a stamp and a stamp pad to create custom stamps. This year I decided to stamp the back of my cards with a snowman using red ink. It was quick easy and very low maintenance in the clean up department. If gave my envelope just the touch they needed to make them look more decorative then a plain envelope that was slightly thinner because of the cheap cards I picked up. Below I have  displayed photos.

2. Personal Family Touch

Some like to add a  photo of their family at this time or maybe even photos of the kids that grandparents have yet to see. Adding prints in the inside is cheaper than buying photo Christmas Cards and still give you the same effect. Plus with prints recipients can save the photos and place them around their house easier than when they are on a Christmas card. Another way to add personal touches is by having the kids sign their own names or even stamp their thumbs and you write their names underneath. They will feel like they are helping and your recipients are getting something more than just a card you wrote and signed the family members' name too. As I stated in my bio I have a puppy named Hercules and I did this with him. His paw was stamped on every Christmas card that I sent out to people and my family and friends loved it and thought it was the cutest thing ever. I attached my photos of this below. I also sit down with a list of who I need to send Christmas cards to and write each card individually so it does not seem like a script that I sat down and planned out and just attached their address too. The personal messages mean a lot to your recipients as well because it shows that you were truly thinking of them (however this option is a little more time consuming).

3. Decorating the inside

Another way to spruce up the envelope is to decorate the inside tap of the envelope. This is great especially if you are not fully sealing the envelopes along the strip you are supposed to lick because people will lift open the tap at the seal instead of ripping it open. A simple way to decorate it by adding a decorate piece of paper that you cut to fit in that triangular area. I love to use glitter paper a lot because it is eye catching and fun. However, I also have used just regular scrapbook paper to decorate the top as well. This is super easy because all you do is cut it to fit the top of the envelope then using a glue stick attach it to the envelope. If you use heavier paper you may need to use hot glue instead but try to keep it as thin as possible to prevent wrinkles in the paper.
