Gift

I did this gift for my boyfriend's Valentines day present but you can use it for any occasion that you need a gift for him. You can use it for his birthday, or your guys' anniversary, or even just because I want you to know I care gift. I found the idea on Pintrest (of course! where else would I find it?), but I just kept finding people who used the exact same gifts and there was not a lot of variation in the different people who had done the gift. So I decided to change that but I also wanted to be able to give various different ideas that I had thought of as well.

This gift is called the 5 senses because it is supposed to have a gift for each sense.

Smell- I used his and her coffee mugs. I did this because we both drink a lot of coffee and the first thing we talk about when we walk into a coffee shop is the smell. So that is why I chose this particular gift for my boyfriend.

Other variations could be:
  • Candles
  • Cologne (could be something that he wears or something you wear to remind him of you)
  • A smell that you guys share together (I know that sounds weird but like mine was something we shared. It could be that you both love the smell of freshly baked cookies so you make him some etc . . .)

Hear- I bought him several different vinyl records from a singer he liked. He doesn't have a record player so I also added in a day to go shopping to get him one (always like to add more date night ideas for the future). I printed out a template of a admit one stub and filled it in with the info for a free day of antique shopping to find a record player.

Other Variations could be:
  • itunes gift card
  • ipod
  • concert tickets
  • cds
  • Watch/Clock (found a website that offered this as an option because they tick and tock)
  • Voice Recording (specially if he is in the military something you could send him with your voice recorded will be extra special because he can hear your voice when he might not always be able to.

Sight- I did a photo tree. It was a make shift (Charley brown tree as I liked to call it) that I hung photos of us on. We are big on sending photos to one another and capturing moments together so it was something that we could display those moments on.

Other variations could be:
  • Just one photo (possibly framed) of the two of you
  • tickets (game, concert, play, etc . . .)
  • Movie tickets or gift card
  • Movies themselves
  • This can be anything that you can physically see so it leaves it open to a lot of different options so play around with it.
  • Your underwear (preferably a new pair he hasn't seen you in)
  • Boudoir photos
I always like to pick something that will fit the person I am giving it to and something that they will truly enjoy.

Taste- I did chocolate. I chose chocolate because me and my boyfriend will play fight over chocolate and was hiding the chocolate from one another to keep it all to our selves. So to feel our sweet tooth that we have I bought him the chocolate that we first fought over together.

Other variations could be:
  • beer, wine, or any type of alcohol
  • restaurant gift cards
  • favorite candy
  • ticket for cooking dinner for them
  • their favorite drink (soda, yahoo, etc...)
Touch- I did a biography book. He likes to read biographies so I got him Walt Disney biography because we have an inside joke about Disney (because like most girls I love Disney and can almost tell you anything about any movie).

Other variations could be:
  • massage oils
  • Another place that you could do your underwear
  • Underwear for him
  • Board game
  • This is another one that is just tangible so anything that you can physically touch can be used

Take the time to think about the person your giving it to and what they would like it makes the gift so much more personal and also shows how much you know them.
